Well last friday we received a nice winter storm. Eight inches of blowing and drifting snow that cancelled schools, put a "State One Road Emergency" (only emergency vehicles on the road). No one knew what to do. But I did: Grant and I deciced to build a Quinzee Hut (snow cave).

Super Bowl Sunday after church we worked up a sweat shoveling up a big pile of snow, let it sit for a couple hours.

I found some really good help in Claire who was all about the snow fort. She now tells me when she is 5 years old then she can sleep out in the snow. (Advice from Mom)

Me taking a break for shoveling snow out, while Grant takes a turn. Notice me in deep contemplation of the big Indiana sky.

The glow of a lantern warmly welcomes us to our place of rest for the night.

Cozyed up in our sleeping bags with just a enough room to sleep. Sleep we did, nice and warm. That is as warm as you get when you are surrounded by snow.
"But can't you hear the Wild? -- it's calling you.Let us probe the silent places, let us seek what luck betide us; Let us journey to a lonely land I know. There's a whisper on the night-wind, there's a star agleam to guide us, And the Wild is calling, calling . . . let us go."
