So I realized that not much has been said about Joshua and the whole thing we came here to do! :) Well Monday through Friday, Joshua spends most of the day in class and at Alliance World Coffee (AWC...aka, the place they roast coffee). He has class Monday, Tues, Wed, and Friday morning. His classes consist of the following: Coffee Training, Homeletics (Pastoral Teaching), Missionology, Life of Apostle Paul, Makings of a Leader, and Old/ New Testament Classes. The main courses are taught by the pastor and other church leaders and the Old/ New Testament summary classes are taught by the second year interns (Something that Josh will have to look forward to next year! A lot more reading and a lot more work....) The Old and New Testament classes that they are looking at right now are: 1 and 2 Timothy, Amos, Jeremiah and Lamentations, Mark, Zepheniah, Micah, and Joel.
The interns share lunch together after class (the girls and I have been graceously invited to join them!) and then he is off to work next door with the coffee! He is there all afternoon and then Thursdays as well. His main roll right now is packaging and helping customers, but he has been able to sit in and roast a few batches of coffee! He has not said this outloud, but I know he LOVES IT! "Coffee" means something so much more here, and as a supportive wife, I am starting my one cup a week with him. (We get up together on Monday mornings so that I can share a cup with him. Honestly it is hard for me as coffee does not sit well on my stomach in the morning. But that is what a supportive wife does, right?)
So that is Joshua's week here in a nutshell. We are still working on his "homework/reading" time. The house can be somewhat energetic in the evenings... Joshua also needs to figure out a volunteer opportunity somewhere. They really want the interns involved in church ministry and reaching out in the community in a variety of ways.
Thank you all for your support and encouragement! "We thank God upon every rememberance of you!"
